Profile: Mr. Stewart Anderson
Stewart joined Vancity (Vancouver City Savings Credit Union) in the fall of 2004 with the mandate of broadening and deepening the Credit Union's involvement with the Aboriginal community. He recognizes that Financial Institutions can - and should - do a much better job at understanding and meeting the needs of First Nations and Aboriginal people.
Working in the financial services sector for the last 15 years, Stewart has a strong background in economic development, project finance, and corporate lending, as well as a keen awareness of the importance of relationship building. His clients have included First Nation Governments, Aboriginal and First Nations Development Corporations, Aboriginal Social Service agencies, and First Nations/Private Sector Joint Ventures. He holds a BComm (Honours Finance) from Dalhousie University in Halifax, and a Masters of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management "Thunderbird" in Phoenix, Arizona.
Stewart is active in the East Vancouver community where he lives, and serves on the boards of a number of community and arts organizations.
